Katelin Smith is 2007 graduate of North Davidson High School in Welcome, North Carolina.  Her advisors were Mrs. Donna Fulton, Mr. Dennis Snyder, and Ms. Dara Campbell.  She is the daughter of Mr. Edwin Russell Smith IV and Mrs. Karen T. Smith; she also is the sister of Russell and Kiser Smith.  Katelin is currently a freshman at North Carolina State University where she will be majoring in Agriculture Education with a concentration in Animal Science.
While in high school Katelin participated in multiple career development events including Tools Identification, Parliamentary Procedures, Livestock, Dairy, Poultry, Horse, and Meats Evaluation.  Katelin also served in various leadership roles including chapter treasurer and president, regional sentinel, and was granted the opportunity to be a delegate in 2006.
Working at a Appaloosa Show Barn traveling all around, showing and working with Red Angus beef cows, milking and showing Brown Swiss dairy cows, and helping out with her uncle’s chicken houses made Katelin very busy.  But it also gave Katelin multiple SAE projects.
Katelin is an active member of Canaan United Methodist Church, where she was President of the youth group in 2006-2007, chair of the outreach committee, a member of the usher team, and of the church council.
As a state officer Katelin is excited to serve others and shine her love of agriculture and the FFA because, “It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone.  And as we let our own light shine, we help others to let their light shine also (anonymous).”
