A Historical
Prospective
The North
Carolina FFA
Center was
established
in the
1920's as
the Young
Tarheel
Farmers Camp
and is one
of the first
of its kind
in the
United
States.
FFA members
and their
adult
advisors
have met at
the camp
every summer
since 1928
with the
exception of
1943 and
1944, when
the camp was
closed due
to World War
II.
Later the
White Lake
property
became one
of the three
FFA camps in
North
Carolina.
Today, the
Center is
location of
the state's
only
official FFA
summer camp
and is
commemorated
by a state
highway
historical
marker.
The FFA was
founded in
1928 as the
Future
Farmers of
America.
FFA's
mission is
to make a
positive
difference
in the lives
of students
by
developing
thier
potential
for premier
leadership,
personal
growth, and
career
success
through
agricultural
education. |
