Caitlin Lowe is a 2007
graduate of Eastern Randolph High School in
Ramseur. Caitlin’s advisors were Raymond
Caviness, Amy Kidd, Anna Marshall and April
Madison. She is the daughter of Trenten
and Cindy Lowe and has an older brother
Justin. Caitlin is a freshman at North Carolina
State University majoring in Botany. She
hopes to one day perform research with plant
genetics
in the field of crop science.
Throughout her high school
career Caitlin participated in numerous
career development events and leadership
activities. She participated in the nursery
landscape, creed, agricultural tools and
materials, forestry, farm business
management and parliamentary procedure
career development events. Caitlin was
a member of the 2005 national winning team
in Floriclture and placed second
individually in the contest. Caitlin has also
served as reporter, vice president and president of her FFA
chapter; the treasurer of the central
region; and the and
the president of the west central region.
Caitlin has received her Greenhand, Chapter,
and State FFA Degrees.
Caitlin has a passion for
plants which was incorporated into her
Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE)
program. One of her SAE programs consisted
of placement in her family’s small
production greenhouse. She has performed
SAE’s involving the experimental method with
Wisconsin fast plants, placement on a beef
cattle farm, and participating in a home and
community development program in which she
re-landscaped her home.
While in high school Caitlin
was involved in several different activities
including student government, fellowship of
Christian athletes, and serving as class
treasurer. She is a member of Gray’s Chapel
United Methodist Church where she is a youth
bible study leader and has participated on
several mission trips including North
Carolina and Washington D.C. Caitlin
believes that each of us is here for a
purpose and that it is our duty to use these
talents which we have been blessed with to
help improve the lives of others.
Caitlin is very excited to
serve as your 2007-2008 state FFA
President. Her goals are to serve as an
agricultural ambassador in the effort to
increase agricultural literacy and to serve
as a catalyst in helping members to continue
reaching for their goals, to step out of
their comfort zones, and to pursue
opportunities by living the quote by Max
DePre, “We cannot become what we need to by
remaining what we are.”
